Warehouses, factories and industrial units across Bristol, from Avonmouth and Severnside to the trading estates on the edges of the city, rely on large metal roofs that face constant weather. When fixings loosen, laps fail, gutters corrode or roof lights crack, water gets in fast.
We carry out industrial roofing in Bristol and Bath: repairs and replacement of profiled metal sheets and composite insulated panels, cladding repairs, gutter linings, roof light replacement and overcladding of old roofs.
Industrial Roofing is a good choice for:
The most common failures we see are corroded cut edges on sheets, failed lap seals, loose fixings, cracked or brittle roof lights and leaking valley and box gutters. Gutters can often be lined with a liquid system instead of being replaced. Where the roof is old fibre cement, asbestos roof replacement or overcladding with a new metal roof is usually the answer.
Industrial roofs often include fragile roof lights and sheets, so work is planned in line with the Work at Height Regulations 2005, HSE guidance on fragile roofs and the CDM Regulations 2015.
Most industrial buildings have either single-skin profiled metal sheets with separate insulation, or composite panels with insulation bonded between two metal skins. Both can last a long time, but cut edges, laps, fixings and sealants need periodic attention. Cut edge corrosion, where the coating at the end of a sheet fails and rust spreads, is one of the most common problems and can often be treated before it becomes serious.
Older plastic roof lights become brittle with age, and some older sheet roofs are fragile. HSE guidance is clear that fragile surfaces must never be walked on and need proper protection during work. Replacing old roof lights improves both safety and weathertightness.
Overcladding fits a new insulated metal roof over the existing one using spacer systems. It improves thermal performance, avoids disturbing old materials and keeps the building in use during the work.

Usually, yes. Work is phased and access planned to keep disruption to a minimum.
Fitting a new metal roof over the existing one, often with added insulation. It avoids stripping the old roof and can be useful where the old roof contains asbestos.
Old roof lights can be fragile and a serious fall risk. They should never be walked on, and replacement is often recommended.
Often they can be lined with a liquid or membrane system, which is quicker and cheaper than replacement.
We plan industrial roof work around your operations, so the building keeps working while the roof is fixed.
